Optical Field Encrypted Communication

The optical field encryption technique being developed here provides secure, future-proof data communication, while maintaining high data throughput rates in  the optical transmission medium.  Unlike alternative optical encryption techniques, there is neither an observable nor recordable data modulation signature within the transmission medium. Any espionage activities on the communication link cannot discern a signal transmitted employing the optical field encryption technique being developed here from amplified optical background noise.

The key features and advantages offered by the technology being employed to realise this optical field encryption technique are

· Optical signal cannot be deciphered nor detected without the correct optical      hardware key
· Future-proof against advances in decryption techniques (quantum computing)
· Provides high-speed encrypted data and/or key distribution
· Provides greater security than software encryption but also augments it
· Traffic transmission/absence undetectable
· Multiple node network configurable
· Allows incorporation of optical signal multiplexing and future modulations schemes
· Adaptable to different optical transmission systems (fibre or bulk free space)
· Transferable across all optical windows (e.g. 630nm, 1.06um, 1310nm, 1550nm)
