Computational Photography

Computational Photography is an emerging new reality that involves numerous fields like computer graphics, computer vision and photography. The trend is to capture more optical information at the time (spatial and angular informations, i.e. the four-dimensional radiance of a scene, or lightfield) to allow post-processing imaging.
To encode 4D radiance onto a 2D sensor there are two popular approaches. The first one uses array of lenses capturing the image from an orderly grid of viewpoints or individual digital cameras. The second approach places a single lens in front of an array of microlenses.
Possible applications are synthetic refocusing, relighting, or 3D reconstruction.
